Many years ago, Grand Prairie Metro participated in the Rotary Youth Exchange program. Youth Exchange is a study-abroad opportunity for young people who spend anywhere from a few weeks to a full year as an international student hosted by local Rotary clubs. Over about a 10-year period, various members of our club opened their homes to students from countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Germany, and Japan. Those experiences created many unforgettable memories and lifetime bonds.
Sandi Morrison was one of several in our club that participated. She remained in touch with one of the youth she hosted for about 9 months in 1995-1996. Her name is Bianca Oliveira Heath and she came to us from Brazil. Tomorrow, Bianca will be our guest to tell her amazing story about how Rotary changed her life! There will also be visitors from District 5810, members of the Friday club who remember her fondly, a few of our former members, and representatives from the City and GPISD! We hope you can attend this special meeting.

Rotary Club Meeting Protocol
Part of a traditional club meeting is the introduction of visiting Rotarians.
When regular guests are introduced, the correct response is polite applause. But, per protocol, the proper way to greet visiting Rotarians is different.
The proper introduction of a visiting Rotarian is, "Visiting with us from the [Club name] under the classification of [profession] is [John Smith]!"
And the proper response in unison is, "Hi, [John]." (no applause)
FYI: If it's Dr. John Smith, Mayor John Smith, or District Governor John Smith the correct response is to greet them by their first name. Part of being in Rotary is that we're all on a first name basis.
