Gem Munro with the Amarok Society delivered a compelling presentation last week. After the meeting, we received a nice message from his wife, Tanyss, with additional information about the group and how people can support their mission.
We're so pleased to have worked in close partnership with Rotary clubs across North America and in Bangladesh over the past 17 years. Our work together has empowered marginalized, illiterate mothers to become powerful catalysts of real change for their neighbourhoods. Children are growing up able to direct their own lives and, like the mothers who taught them, contributing to their communities in many ways. The Amarok mothers recently calculated that, in total, they’re currently transforming the futures of over 20,000 people in these most difficult neighbourhoods and communities.
We don’t employ professional fundraisers and are requesting a donation from each club we visit. While any amount will make a tangible difference, we’re hoping your club considers adopting a mother and the 5 children she teaches. The cost to provide all the materials and support is $1,000/year and will actually include reading and writing materials for 15 children. Your adopted mother will send you quarterly updates to demonstrate the difference your sponsorship is actually making.
Another way to support what we're doing is to sign up for free (for the first 4 months) to receive Gem’s latest series of books, ‘And Where the Wind Spun Them’. Here’s the link. https://www.amaroksociety.org/subscribe If you like what you’re receiving, we’ll ask you to pay $15/month starting in month 5. Or you can unsubscribe. Either way, the first part is totally free.
With best wishes,
Tanyss
